Pryvate SME - Remote Wipe (Essential Security Feature)

Remote Wipe allows the SME administrator to delete sensitive data from a device, even if they no longer have physical access to it.

Welcome to Pryvate! Remote Wipe allows the SME administrator to delete sensitive data from a device, even if they no longer have physical access to it.

⚠️ Caution: This feature is especially useful if a device is lost, stolen, or compromised.

Initiating Remote Wipe

Go to the Active Users tab, locate the user, and click the Remote Wipe icon.

You will be prompted to select:

  • Wipe all devices linked to the user, or
  • Target a specific device only.

The Secure Deletion Process

Once initiated, a secure command is sent to the selected device.

  • The Pryvate app authenticates the wipe request via server validation.
  • All sensitive data is erased, including:
    • Chat histories
    • Encryption keys
    • Media files
    • User credentials

Account Lockout & Revocation

  • The app immediately logs out all active sessions.
  • Encryption keys are invalidated, blocking further access—even if reopened.

Confirmation & Alerts

  • The user is notified once the wipe is successful.
  • If the device was offline, an alert is sent indicating the wipe couldn't be completed.
  • The Remote Wipe icon will appear greyed out after the process finishes.

That's it! Pryvate's Remote Wipe ensures that your organization's data remains protected—even in worst-case scenarios.
